Barrie Pride - Bounce Back to Summer, 2019
Now that winter is upon us, it seemed right to remind us all of the wonder that is summer in Barrie. So, for the next few weeks, we will be periodically featuring events that occurred during the warmer weather that are important to our community all year long. We are calling this our 'Bounce Back to Summer' series.
First on the list is the summer Pride parade that was run collaboratively or participated in by Barrie Pride, Fierté Simcoe Pride, Georgian Pride, and other LGBTQ supporting organizations. This year the parade was held later in the year than is normal, on August 17, and they could not have asked for a better day. Although a little foreboding around the edges, the skies were clear, the air was warm, and rainbows seemed to pop up in all directions.
One feature of this year's celebration was the creation of the rainbow Pride crosswalk at Meridian place, Barrie. It was cause for celebration, and celebrate they did.
We would like to thank the following sponsors of the City of Barrie Network. These businesses show they care about our shared community by helping us to provide a not-profit-motivated truly local voice to you and your neighbours. They also enable our crew to be able to continue providing donated services to promote local benevolent community groups and Barrie-based charities.
