The Kiwanis Club of Barrie, One Hundred Years of Service, 2022
The Kiwanis Club of Barrie, (KCB), was chartered on August 15, 1922. On September 17, 2022, they celebrated their centenary anniversary.
Throughout that time, this group of mostly seniors has provided a wide variety of services, some local and some international, ranging from providing milk, oranges, and cod liver oil to children during the depression, to working to eradicate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus in third world nations. The list of accomplishments throughout the past century has been to say the least extremely impressive.
This vibrant and diversified Club continues to seek ways to improve our world one child and one community at a time. In commemoration of our 100th Anniversary, they set aside $100 000.00 to be shared equally between the Women and Children’s Shelter of Barrie, Empower Simcoe, and Ukrainian Freedom Flights.
The accomplishments of this group are too plentiful to list here but are all included within our video. Their history is well worth knowing more about.
We would like to thank the following sponsors of the Ontario Community Awareness Network. These businesses show they care about our shared community by helping us to provide a not-for-profit truly local voice to you and your neighbours. They also enable our crew to be able to continue providing donated services to promote local benevolent community groups and charities based in The City of Barrie, the Town of Innisfil, and the Township of Oro-Medonte.
