Barrie Pride Positive Places - Beauty and Babes, 2020
Every person has the right to feel safe and included in society, regardless of their race, creed, an outward expression of religion, or gender identity and sexual orientation. This is the idea behind the 'Pride Positive Place' movement initiated by Barrie Pride.
This morning, Melissa Ferguson and her team at Beauty & Babes became the first such certified safe space, and a few minutes later, our crew from the OCANetwork, also known as Five Points Media, became the second.
Barrie Pride is looking to add local businesses and groups to the list of places where those who are feeling threatened can go to feel safe and secure.
Our Big Blue Box Studio, at the corner of Innisfil St. and Essa Rd., has always been considered by us to be a safe place for anybody facing any kind of persecution or threat, but we are happy to make it official. Our crew is also very happy to step in to defend the rights of any person who feels threatened should we happen to be nearby recording a story, etc.
We would like to thank the following sponsors of the Ontario Community Awareness Network. These businesses show they care about our shared community by helping us to provide a locally-focused truly local voice to you and your neighbours. They also enable our crew to be able to continue providing donated services to promote local benevolent community groups and charities based in The City of Barrie, the Town of Innisfil, and the Township of Oro-Medonte.
