Barrie Ontario Is Where Contempt For Those In Need Results In Deaths By Social Murder

The Mayor and Council of the City of Barrie, located in Simcoe County, approximately 100 km above central Toronto, is currently lost in the darkness of a malicious and cruel one-sided war, orchestrated and perpetuated by a weak and self-serving career politician, who has been accused at both the provincial and federal levels of cheating the public through election fraud.

If this story was told on an international level, the UN would have long ago sent in peacekeepers, most likely Canadians, to protect the refugees from the oligarch.

Alex Nuttall, the barely elected mayor of Barrie, won his office by a wafer-thin margin of only 777 votes and with support of only 12.91% of the full electorate. Regardless, he is engaged in a very personal militaristic war against the homeless community. This apparent narcissist has, since at least March of 2019, been obsessed with hurting, starving, and displacing about a thousand people whose only crime is being abandoned by society during a time of economic strife. Mayor Alex Nuttall cannot be confirmed to be afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), but since being elected, he has demonstrated every key symptom.

Nobody is exempt from these cruel policies, including seniors, the disabled, the mentally ill, those suffering cognitively disorders, and even veterans suffering from physical and psychological wounds due to service.

The new issue of great concern is how during the winter of 2025/26, when death by exposure is a constant threat, police are suddenly pushing for the unsheltered to move their encampments, which are their only means of survival. This endangers the lives of those forced to live without proper shelter. Those trapped in the homeless community are normally spared constant harassment by police during the coldest months, as they suffer in makeshift homes of wood and cloth built in places where they can be found and supported by various official and volunteer outreach services.

However, this winter, ever since Mayor Alex Nuttall roared and beat his chest, declaring a legally questionable ‘State of Emergency’ (see below), the City of Barrie has shifted policy in a very underhanded way and has ordered police to demand that occupants move those encampments frequently and regularly for no genuine reason. When that occurs, city workers and officers of the Barrie Police Service are reported to collect and dispose of some or all of the supplies owned by the target encampment occupants, leaving the social refugees of our own country without tents, sleeping bags, tarps, or other necessities of survival.

A legal challenge to the 'State of Emergency' and the by-laws is being prepared, but for now, these abuses leave the homeless victims quite literally out in the cold without even a blanket to keep them warm.

Mentally healthy human beings, who possess empathy, do not take deliberate action to hurt hundreds of innocent people. This abusive policy will reduce the number of homeless in Barrie, but not in the way that will be claimed to be true in the local controlled mainstream media, who are reliant on advertising from City Hall. In reality, many of those struggling to survive in tents and makeshift shelters will perish, quietly and without the knowledge of anybody but a few officers of the Barrie Police Service and EMS workers who have embraced the 'rules' to keep their jobs.

On January 6, 2025, we reached out to the Barrie Police Service, asking for confirmation or denial of reports that approximately eight people living without shelter had been found dead by exposure so far since the start of that winter. Their response, that we received the next day, was non-comital, cryptic, and written in a 'neither confirm nor deny' format used by lawyers and the military.

Sometime during the long hard days and nights that are now hitting these economic refugees with phenomenal suffering, these fellow human beings will freeze due to a lack of blankets and sleeping bags, that are said to have been seized and disposed of by city workers and officers of the Barrie Police Service. If the extreme cold does not kill them, these human beings will die from illness that is easily avoided by providing shelter for all who need it, as has been acknowledged as essential, mostly at press conferences, yet not fulfilled by the current mayor and council. Finally, they will starve due to a lack of food caused by them being forced to move constantly further away from essential resources in Barrie's central core, and by the city's deliberate disruption of outreach services. This kind of politically motivated malicious negligence, implemented to eliminate a 'nuisance' social issue, is referred to in socio-political circles as social murder.

We chose to follow a very different path, based on compassion and a desire to ensure human dignity.

We Are For Some A Safe Harbour, And For Others An Emergency Lifeboat.

Our Big Blue Box Studios, located at 310 Innisfil St., has been home to our producer and his dogs for nearly 15 years. From the front, the building looks small, but when seen from above, its full depth becomes apparent. For that reason, the aptly named Big Blue Box is said to be 'bigger on the inside' 😉. Some cannot believe until they see it, but the building contains two video and media studios and a variety of production facilities for use in community projects produced and donated by Five Points Media, and by our commercial division at 3B Solutions.

The Busby Centre provides overnight shelter for about fifty people, and newly available services help another thirty, leaving more than 900 people without shelter.

For a variety of reasons, to be discussed in this story, we reduced our production services to provide a benevolent means of transitional tenancy and short-term sanctuary to those living without shelter who remain in desperate need. Many of those fellow human beings are now at risk of dying by exposure, due mostly to the cruel and callous policies of our Mayor, Alex Nuttall, a self-serving tiny-town dictator, who was accused of fraud both provincially and federally, who appears complicit to cause multiple deaths by 'negligence', also known as social murder.

We provide 24/7 shelter to eight people, or roughly ten percent of what the City of Barrie provides in total, for three couples and two individuals. We do not push our residents out in the morning, and we include private rooms, full access to the kitchen, in-house laundry, computers with unlimited access, use of a workshop, access to a gym, a large backyard, and a sense of community. Unlike our mayor and council, we see these people as human beings.

Social murder occurs when deaths result from exploitative social, economic, or political conditions, rather than direct violence, where authorities knowingly allow vulnerable people to die due to negligence and policy.

Building Bridges To A Better Future

We have nothing but respect for the hard work of the staff at the Busby Centre. They provide amazing assistance for those in need, and they deserve every bit of support people are willing to give them. That is especially true now, as they must work in the polluted political environment manufactured by Mayor Alex Nuttall. Sadly, due mostly to limited funding, all they are able to offer is overnight bunks and programs intended to eventually help their clients find housing.

Shelter is essential, but more is needed to succeed.

We learned quickly, and dramatically, that when a person lives in a tent for years, warming cans over a fire to survive, or going to the community breakfast and then Busby or outreach for lunch, they tend to forget how to cook or prepare a proper meal. The same is true regarding the use of tools, other than the basics like an axe or hammer. Many also need to be taught again how to use a computer, especially given the constant upgrades. Finally, their strength is often depleted from a lack of proper positive exercise and surviving on processed food. Our focus is to provide safe accommodations, good nutrition, training in the tools needed to advance, and when requested, guidance to seek out the services that can help them.

We are told that living on the streets is very much like being in prison, as the world rolls on past you while you concentrate on survival, and one day you are released, but you are years behind where you should be.

When The City Of Barrie Chose To Abandon Them To Die In The Streets, We Stepped Up To Help Who We Could

We are a self-sustaining refuge that receives no government support. In exchange, we are independent of the often-compassionless constraints levied upon publicly funded facilities by the County of Simcoe, and most often by Barrie City Hall. We are also able to ignore the often-Draconian policies dictated by Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall, who clearly has an agenda to fully eliminate, by any means he deems necessary, those struggling to survive within the unsheltered community of our city, including seniors, the disabled, the mentally ill, those suffering cognitively disorders, and even veterans suffering from physical and psychological wounds due to service.

We converted office and creative space in the back of the house into living space for those in need. This provided us with three rooms big enough for couples. We also offered limited storage, both in tents during the summer and in the attic year-round. The large backyard was used for cleaning and organizing personal property, which in a lot of cases had to be bundled and transported quickly due to surprise evictions by city staff backed by officers of the Barrie Police Service.

As members of the homeless community, our residents did not qualify for the shelter portion of Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program. However, with shelter in place they did, and they voluntarily contribute some or all of what they receive for housing to help cover household expenses and bills. Nobody pays more than what they receive specifically for shelter, so nobody pays out of their pocket to enjoy the comfort and benefits of transitional tenancy at the Big Blue Box Studios.

One couple has stayed with us for slightly more than a year, but in their case, there are mitigating circumstances. Most stay up to twelve months before finding, through the use of our resources and connections, a better long-term housing solution. Our record with residents is also not perfect, as we have had to deal with theft, an undisclosed sex crime offender, mental health issues, and violence. Regardless, we know we are saving lives, and that none of those issues are isolated to those living in the unsheltered community. There is more than enough inhumanity inside the walls of city hall, and far too many members of our community lack compassion.

All citizens and permanent residents of Canada are protected by the Charter Rights and Freedoms, except in Barrie, where our barely elected mayor acts like some kind of self-anointed emperor.

Alex Nuttall Declared A State Of Emergency, But Lied About The Reason, His True Motivation, and The Victims

On September 9, 2025, Mayor Alex Nuttall held a press conference to justify his declaration of a State of Emergency, during which he felt the need to remind us all about how, as a one-term, lame-duck, lacklustre Member of Federal Parliament, sitting in the back benches without influence as a minor member of the opposition, Mayor Jeff Lehman and Councillors, several of whom currently serve as members of his obsequious posse, had not jumped up, clicked their heals, and obeyed his commands to start what would become his personal war on the unsheltered.

It is little wonder why failed MP Alex Nuttall's voice held such little respect on the municipal level, as there was nothing close to a crisis at that time, he had sued a progressive member of council for speaking out against white supremacy as connected to a local Conservative MP, and allegations made inside the federal level of the Tory party accused him of election fraud, allegedly committed in support of hard-right leadership candidate Maxime Bernier. Those charges were said to be the real reason why MP Alex Nuttall suddenly 'chose' to drop out of federal politics.

"Six years ago on March 5th, 2019, I requested Barrie City Mayor and Council to declare a state of emergency to properly manage the opioid emergency and ancillary impacts of homelessness and lawlessness but was ignored."

Then, a few seconds later, Mayor Alex Nuttall continued to reminisce about what was clearly an important day in his failed career as a politician, this time complaining about how hundreds of concerned citizens, and media from across Ontario, had shown the nerve and audacity in a democracy to congregate at Barrie City Hall to say no to proposed Draconian by-laws that the mayor and council wanted to pass that would have made it a finable offence for any taxpaying citizen to provide to a starving or destitute person, money, food, drink, or any kind of necessity of survival.

It is the responsibility of the county administrators to provide the services needed for the homeless to survive, so what does this maliciously motivated and malevolent attack on decency say about their real plans?

"Just over two years ago, Barrie City Council tried to bring more effective controls into the community to address rampant homelessness, organized criminal behaviors, drug use, and panhandling. Following activist intervention, council decided to have faith and provide one more chance to local social services to get it right. Our faith has not been rewarded and neither has the provinces."

It appears that Alex Nuttall does not understand that he and his council were trying to criminalize compassion, which is an abuse of civic trust, a symptom of psychopathy, and an impiety to his own professed Christian faith.

Alex Nuttall Has Demonstrated Every Primary Symptom of Narcissistic Personality Disorder

True to form for any person stricken with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), Mayor Alex Nuttall IS RIGHT! and EVERYBODY else is WRONG! Now HE, and only HE, can fix what he and his council have permitted to reach crisis level due to them doing NOTHING during the past three years to help those suffering. Instead, they wholeheartedly embraced an ever-worsening policy of attacking, evicting, removing, and destroying the few cherished possessions held dear by the victims of government incompetence at every level; most notably that of the City of Barrie municipal council under the dictatorial control of Mayor Alex Nuttall.

Everyday, we hear the same self-ingratiating propaganda from President Donald Trump and for the same reason. We have substantiated using evidence, in multiple articles and videos, that Mayor Alex Nuttall has never contested, how his pious policies during the past three years, have caused many of the most recent issues, like at Flat Rock, where his negligence contributed to an easily avoidable million dollar environmental clean up. Also, some actions, like the unlawful eviction at Berczy Park, were done for personal profit, or to improve life for his own family.

It is both the taxpayers of Barrie and the suffering souls in the homeless community who pay for Alex Nuttall's self-indulgence and abuse of public funds and resources that belong to the City of Barrie.

Mayor Alex Nuttall has also demonstrated Trump's passion for distraction, and the art of manufacturing a public spectacle of 'look what I'm doing' that serves no legitimate purpose. One example is his decision to spend $250,000.00 on a big flag and pole when there were so many more legitimate needs for those public funds. Due to public pressure, he backed off from the public piggy bank and accepted the money from an out-of-town contractor who is building a large development in Barrie that is susceptible to inspections, etc. by city staff.

That is about as subtle as Trump accepting a $400 million plane from Qatar.

We Are Told By Those Inside Local Politics That Our Reporting Is Having The Intended Effect

We are told by friends inside City Hall that due to our factual ongoing mockery-based exposure of his all too often offensive form of leadership, Mayor Alex Nuttall is now the brunt of jokes for mayors and councillors across Ontario, and many municipalities across the country. We can confirm a heavy flow of traffic from municipal centres of governance through data from tools that monitor traffic to our websites and Facebook pages. We are also informed, by people with knowledge of the matter, that our ongoing reporting, through which we expose what other, financially controlled local media will not, is one of the primary reasons why Mayor Alex Nuttall told a prominent reporter for Barrie Today that he will not confirm his intent to run again for the office of mayor in 2026.

Narcissists need to project strength, and they like to bully others to do what they want, but watch them start crying when that one kid stands his ground and exposes the lunch money stealing thug for what he really is.

That pattern strongly suggests somebody was spreading details to their colleagues, which in this case likely include the same provincial and federal representatives he is trying to impress through his abusive acts against the unsheltered community. The pattern of visits is indicative of somebody making jokes, likely via email, providing commentary, and working to humiliate the blowhard bully who snapped to attention, clicked his heels, and obeyed the commands of his master by publicly begging Doug Ford to grant him more power by abusing the true purpose of the Notwithstanding Clause so he could show just how much of a big man he is by evicting the weak, starving, and sick people who are struggling to survive within the homeless community.

According to the opinions of many Barrie taxpayer and voters, Alex Nuttall has revealed himself to be a sad excuse for a mayor and a pathetic human being who shows off by abusing the weakest members of our society.

When he made his dramatic but fact-deprived speech announcing the 'State of Emergency', in which he 'justified' abusing the rights of defenceless people, Mayor Alex Nuttall was preaching from ignorance, as by his own admission, he had never stepped foot in an encampment, nor taken time to speak with those afflicted with suffering due to gouging and abuses during the pandemic, and the poorly conceived political decisions of Queen's Park. We knew the people in need through volunteering for outreach services with Ryan's Hope. As the days grew shorter, and the nights colder, Mayor Alex Nuttall acted against the wishes of taxpayers by pushing a campaign of evictions that maliciously threatened the survival of the most vulnerable, who are the easiest people to use as a distraction so he can deflect from his own incompetence.

What Caused The Homeless Crisis, And How Did Barrie City Council's Lack Of Empathy Make It Worse

During the past three years, Mayor Alex Nuttall and those in Barrie Council have been aware of the growing homelessness and housing crisis that is affecting every city across the country. However, while many communities took compassionate action to lessen the suffering and provide shelter for the victims, Barrie Council chose selfishly, so they could avoid accountability by villainizing the afflicted rather than helping those suffering on the streets and in encampments. Financial support was made available by both the provincial and federal governments, but evidently, very little was spent on those in need of emergency assistance. Mayor Alex Nuttall has used the homeless crisis to increase his personal authority, and he has solicited money from both Queen's Park and Ottawa based on dubious claims. When asked to substantiate their allegations, City Hall threw up firewalls and refused to freely provide to media the information owed to the taxpayers of Barrie.

Imagine Canadian UN Peacekeepers are called upon to aid in a war-torn North African nation, but instead of neutralizing the threat to civilians, they use the money to vacation in resorts across the Mediterranean.

Poor-Bashing Government Policies, Bureaucratic Incompetence, and Bias In Favour Of The Wealthy

The number of those living without shelter grew dramatically, both during the pandemic and afterwards, due mostly to mitigating factors beyond the control of the afflicted:

illegal evictions by landlords who saw an opportunity to profit greatly from selling rental properties to pandemic 'refugees' coming from the GTA.
the doubling and even tripling of rental costs without a corresponding increase in wages, caused by the reduction in rental properties, and supply and demand.
victimization by fraud or identity theft, due to a massive increase in remote purchases during the pandemic, when virtually everything was ordered online.
being crippled by personal and workplace injury, when labour tribunals were mostly cancelled, doctors were unavailable, and bureaucracy ground to a halt.
fighting a chronic illness like cancer, while hospitals maintained strict access protocols, services like Uber were hard to book, and bureaucracy ground to a halt.
being let down by inadequate or inefficient government services that for nearly two years were forced to operate almost exclusively from employee's homes.

It is easier to manufacture a scapegoat than to resolve a crisis that was exacerbated by the decisions of those same politicians who must now produce a façade behind which they can conceal their own ineptitude.

The Mayor And Council Chose To Hide From The Crisis And Blame The Victims

Instead of mustering the strength of character needed to see these people as human beings who were suffering, the municipal representatives of the City of Barrie, under what has been described by councillors as the authoritarian control of Mayor Alex Nuttall, chose to do virtually nothing. No new shelters were opened, and existing facilities were left to deal with the increase in demand. During the pandemic, as a means of concealing the true numbers of those suffering homelessness, many were sequestered in cheap motels. That action was not taken to assist the homeless but was done for the sole purpose of having something indiscriminate to point at when asked what the Mayor and City Council were doing to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Then, in May of 2023, the World Health Organization announced the end of the pandemic, and those who had been removed from society for our benefit, not theirs, were suddenly evicted from the motel rooms.

Suddenly, the streets of Barrie were flooded with unsheltered people looking for somewhere to live. Hundreds of housing units that had been rental properties were no longer available due to being sold for huge profits to panicked Torontonians seeking to escape the pandemic. Many of those sold properties represented two or more apartments. The trickle through effect caused remaining rental prices to explode, because of supply and demand. Due to the sudden nature of the crisis, and poor planning by Mayor Alex Nuttall and his council of sycophants, City Hall chose to attack the victims rather than take positive action.

That is when Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall went into full panic mode, for the first of many times, revealing that his answer to a crisis is to be the only voice in the room, to ignore the advice of others, and to yell at anybody who did not fully support his views. As was reported during a sermon by Reverend Canon Simon Bell of St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church "I'm tired of talking to the mayor. I'm tired of being shouted at. I'm tired of being insulted. I'm tired of sitting through meetings for hours and hours and hours, when he's belligerent, and horrible, and nasty, and insulting to us."

According to staff inside City Hall, Mayor Alex Nuttall has earned the nickname 'The Narcissistic Nazi'.

"I was hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in." Matthew 25:35

Mayor Alex Nuttall, a self-touting 'devout Christian', had a rookie councillor introduce new by-laws that would make it a finable offence for any taxpayer to show any form of compassion to any person who was homeless or in need. That included sharing food, water, clothing, and any of the necessities of survival. Due to the heartless nature of the proposal, the action drew anger from hundreds of citizens, and media from across the province came to cover the story. Although the Council Chamber was still medically restricted, the crowd moved in and applied sufficient pressure that council folded, and pushed the issue back for review.

Despite knowing the compassionate views of the taxpayers, every winter Mayor Alex Nuttall waited weeks before asking the county to open a warming centre. It is not like winter in Canada is a surprise, and it should not have been necessary for advocates, community groups, and our independent media service to pressure the City of Barrie to provide this life sustaining essential service. Regardless, every year, Mayor Alex Nuttall played the same heartless game.

We Use Media As It Was Intended, To Help Our Community, And Those In Need

Five Points Media is a 15-year established, not-profit-motivated, social enterprise, community media service that focuses on helping those who are often ignored by mainstream media. It is common in a longstanding conservative city like Barrie for 'old stock' management of media services to feel they must reflect the interests of the mostly white, straight, Anglo-Saxon members of our community, even though we now enjoy much greater diversity due to the influx of people from Toronto during the pandemic.

We have so far produced and donated more than 350 videos, valued at more than $700,000.00, gifted to a minimum of 180 local charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent community groups. We are a social enterprise that gives a voice to the poor, families fighting childhood illness, women's safety, unions, veterans, the disabled, members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, people of colour, the defrauded, victims of slumlords, and of course the homeless. We have also produced a variety of videos for official services, including but not limited to the City of Barrie, the Canadian Armed Forces Cadets, the Canadian Legion, first responders, the Barrie Police Service, various community services in Simcoe County, St. John Ambulance, and others. We bring with us a history of military service, war correspondence, corporate security, private investigations, and a well-established background fighting for our rights and those of other in a court of law, where we hold a 100% rate of success.

We have challenged multi-million-dollar corporations, corrupt police officers, and abusive prosecutors, yet we hold a one hundred percent success rate in defending our right to tell the truth and have never been silenced.

City Hall Obstructed Justice To Prevent Alex Nuttall Testifying

Most recently, Mayor Alex Nuttall avoided being summonsed to testify by abusing his position to order City Hall legal to drop made-up and unsupportable charges laid against our producer, a journalist, who was arrested in a public park by officers of the Barrie Police Service for committing the heinous crime of recording city staff and those same police officers abusing their authority, violating the Charter rights of citizens and a protective Superior Court Order, and unlawfully seizing personal property for disposal despite the owner being present and denying them the authority to do so. The esteemed Mayor of Barrie and his council decided to cut and run from him being summonsed to testify after a judge ruled, without a motion being filed, to turn the charges into a Charter Challenge, that would likely seriously embarrass both the city and the police especially after Mayor Alex Nuttall was forced to face the evidence against him, under oath and under the threat of a charge of perjury. None of these easily proven facts were reported by any local media service, as to do their job means losing access to City Hall and their lucrative advertising budget.

A well-established journalist, and the recipient of multiple awards, was arrested in a public park for reporting on the unlawful actions of police and city staff, yet it was not reported by a single mainstream media source.

When Our Leaders Lack The Courage, Somebody Else Must Be Responsible

Initially, two rooms became available in the Big Blue Box, with the first taken by a young transgender woman who was facing survival on the streets, and the other to a gay man who had in the past been homeless and was having issues finding shelter. Due to who they are, neither would be safe without the security of a home in a city where the ignorant still burn rubber over the Pride crosswalk, and the 'F' word is used frequently to describe those about whom they are intolerant.

Then we expanded and invited in others, regardless of their race, creed, religion, country of origin, gender identity, or sexual orientation. The intent was to treat those in need of shelter like we do in our reporting. We do not judge people, and we knew that in Barrie, where 'old stock' Canadians are still very prominent, some people would experience a greater struggle securing shelter than others.

Through our option of transitional housing, many guests have moved in and then moved on after a few months to secure permanent housing. Then others moved in to also enjoy the benefits of shelter, food security, and access to resources. There was a couple who had been illegally evicted after 14 years as tenants, and then we welcomed a man recently released from prison. Then, an Indigenous man who self-identified as a veteran. We did not judge but opened our doors to those in need.

Although it was not part of our plan, we noticed, over time, an undeniable reduction in the use of illicit drugs.
According to research, this is a natural spinoff of personal safety, food security, and a sense of community.

Like A Lifeboat, Our Studio Offers A Safe Haven

Not every person who has come to us for emergency shelter has needed, or wanted, a long-term stay. Some experienced emergencies, like the sudden eviction of a small encampment on private land that was being permitted by the landowner, at least until the City of Barrie is reported to have pressured him to allow police to evict them, immediately before winter, without offering any form of temporary shelter, which could easily have resulted in social murder.

We directly assisted the two couples to pack up their possessions, and we arranged transportation through the help of a genuine angel who leads a volunteer driven advocacy and outreach service. Then we transported their possessions to our studio, and organized everything in the yard on pallets, under tarps for the winter. That is the first time we used the studio for emergency housing, and two weeks later, as accomplished due to having a stable base to work from, they all found tenancy for the winter. The city could have done that, but they just don't care.

We also arranged transportation to our studio from another town, and provided emergency shelter as needed for a woman who was escaping an abusive situation with her dog. Shelters in Barrie do not normally accept even service animals.

Everybody has a story, and each is real and human, ranging from divorce, to being defrauded, to suffering from combat related trauma as a veteran, and all they need is to be seen as being human beings.

A Man In Need Of Safe Harbour

One day, we saw several posts on social media about Geoffrey, a person with a disability who was struggling to live in a trailer that he was moving from one public parking lot to another to stay one step ahead of officers of the OPP, who kept telling him to move along, often for no apparent reason. Several people had stepped up to assist him as much as they could, but shelter was becoming a serious issue. He also had to contend with having people complain about his two healthy and very well-behaved dogs, with some complainants whining about them, and others about how they felt the dogs must be mistreated as the man was struggling to find shelter.

Afterall, everybody knows that when it comes to exercise for dogs, acres of old-growth forest is no competition for a fenced in backyard; and also, if you are experiencing difficulties in life, you must be accountable. 😉

We arranged for Geoffrey's trailer and his mechanically troubled car to come to our studio, and we parked them in the back parking lot, where he could make necessary repairs as the winter permitted. Then we made housing arrangements for the pups, and as the temperatures started to drop, and space became available, Geoffrey moved into the studio. Again, this was a simple solution that could have been overseen by the City or County. However, they have shown that they prefer, under the commands of our imperialistic mayor, to tear down the only shelter available to the poorest and weakest sector of our society, to destroy and throw away the meagre possessions of the starving poor, and to order 'those people' to leave the City to become the responsibility of much smaller communities that have fewer resources. This is not a logical course of action but is being done because the existence of social 'refugees' within our community appears to upset Alex Nuttall, and as he has shown many times, he cannot deal with an emotional issue that brings with it any kind of accountability.

One January night, when it was -30° or colder, a couple came to our door with a shivering dog tucked inside a jacket, freezing and believing they were about to die as their tent had collapsed under the heavy snow.

The Tragic Cost Of Living Without Shelter

Through volunteering for outreach with Ryan's Hope, we had come to know a couple in the encampments of Barrie, and their dog, Bear. Ryan was a man of about forty, and his partner was in her early thirties. They were in what was obviously a toxic relationship, which is common on the streets, as in many cases, the women find and hold onto whatever man they feel can best protect them. Ryan welcomed our offer of shelter, and he said he wanted to clean up and move forward in life. However, his partner was far more interested in partying, and she did not want to be burdened with rules.

We hold firmly to two policies:

No illegal drugs of any amount or kind in the house or on the property.
No guests in the house without permission from the owner.

Those basic rules prevent abuses that would permit police to act against us. Mayor Alex Nuttall has never denied our public allegations, posted several times, that he abused by-law and property standards to take unwarranted abusive action against us in the past that we debunked so thoroughly with evidence that the City of Barrie dropped their claims rather than have them reviewed by their own tribunal.

Given their very different places on the road to recovery, it seems inevitable that the couple would break up. Ryan stayed in the Big Blue Box, along with Bear, and he lived up to his word of cleaning up by cutting ties to illegal drugs, and spending hundreds of hours online in our isolated computer room, looking for work, arranging for services, and securing necessities for himself and other guests in the house. His partner returned to the streets, and we did not hear from her for several weeks. Eventually, Ryan realized he could wait no longer, and he left to find his partner. He did not immediately return, but we left their few valued possessions untouched for more than two months, believing they were coming back.

Then, tragically, we learned that Ryan had suffered a tragic and mysterious death in an encampment, and word from the street was that new friends of his partner were likely somehow involved. This story was especially tragic, as Ryan was working toward his goal of rebuilding his life, and he invested dozens, or more likely hundreds of hours, trying once again to awaken the skills he once had as a computer expert, and up and coming programmer. He had a base, from which he could have grown, but the transition for his partner was too much, and as a result, he died trying to stabilize them both.

There was little in the way of a police investigation, as many officers of the Barrie Police Service hold to the Nuttall administration philosophy of "No humans involved".

Our Veterans Fought For Our Country, But Far Too Many Were Abandoned When They Came Home

Few, if anybody in our country are more worthy of respect and of being given assistance when needed than our veterans. They answered the call and went overseas to often desolate locations, leaving behind their families, and risking their lives in the defence of the ideals for which we stand.

Approximately five percent of unsheltered people in Canada are veterans, meaning Barrie accounts for about 50 former service men and women.

That may not seem like a large percentage, but less than 1% of Canadians volunteer to serve in our Armed Forces, and that share has fallen over the last 30 years, from roughly 0.3% of the population in the mid-1990s, to roughly 0.2–0.25% today.

Not all veterans who board a plane make it home.

For a variety of reasons, both physical and psychological, some old hand combatants are lost when they return to society, and many of them become homeless. Many end up struggling with police while finding their way back, and they are affected by municipal politicians who are focused solely on their own agenda, and the potential to gorge from the public trough. To them, veterans are honoured one day a year, as a photo-op, and then, if they become a problem, due to trauma or because they are wounded, those who sacrificed to guarantee our rights and freedoms are arrested or pushed onto a bus and shipped out of the city.

In Barrie, that is how Mayor Alex Nuttall and his council of sycophants thank veterans for their service.

There is no indication that Barrie Mayor, Alex Nuttall, has ever, in any way, sacrificed for his country, and it is extremely unlikely that his 'my way or the highway' mentality would be accepted in any chain of command. His projection of self-obsession would also make him unacceptable to any platoon or company. In the armed forces, you are part of a team, and if your focus is you, count on being cast out while still wearing the cornflake cap badge worn by a recruit.

There is no purer form of hypocrisy than that preached by a self-promoting 'devout Christian'.

Praising The Heroes, While Disparaging The Wounded

Our supposedly Christian mayor, shows little genuine respect for our veterans. Once a year, the career politician, who has been accused of election fraud at both the provincial and federal levels, enjoys a photo-op of sitting piously at Remembrance Day ceremonies, where the barely elected deceiver lays a wreath in honour of 'all' veterans. Then, once the opportunity to benefit from the taxpayer funded act of false patriotism is over, Mayor Alex Nuttall orders police to evict encampments, regardless of who lives there, even when he or those reporting to him know veterans are present.

The City of Barrie, at least while under Mayor Alex Nuttall, offers no true respect or grace of honour to homeless veterans, regardless of the physical or psychological cost they paid for their service to our country.

On Remembrance Day, 2025, our Producer, a former MSEOP Corporal who is known now for advocating for the homeless, including veterans, posted a comment on the Facebook page of Mayor Alex Nuttall, who had uploaded a self-serving video about his attendance at the ceremonies, where he represented the City of Barrie. Alex Nuttall won the office of mayor by a micro-thin margin of 777 votes, and with the support of only 12.91% of the full electorate. During the past three years, that anorexic level of loyalty has managed to be dramatically reduced, due heavily to our ongoing reporting about Mayor Alex Nuttall's obsessive one-man war against the human beings, including veterans, who had been forced to survive in the homeless and unsheltered community.

Instead of answering the question of why he was attending at a ceremony for veterans while planning to tear down their only available shelter, Mayor Alex Nuttall chose to hide the comment in the most cowardly way possible. That comment, which went unanswered, and was hidden from the public reads as follows:

As a veteran, who experienced combat alongside Canadian troops in Bosnia and the Middle East, I must ask if you are aware that about five percent of our unsheltered and homeless population are the very same courageous human beings who you are claiming to celebrate today, and that they were equally willing to put their lives on the line for our country.

That means about fifty of the local men and women who you order to be harassed daily, by any means available to you, were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in defence of Canada. I should also note that according to my research, you lacked the testicular fortitude or true patriotism of a man who is willing to sacrifice for this country or provide the services that were voluntarily accepted by those now homeless heroes. While you talk the talk, the veterans you bully walked the walk.

Now, due solely to your compassionless brutality, those brave soldiers are at risk of becoming the victims of social murder, which is being afflicted by you, Alex Nuttall, and your obedient council, who are supposed to be serving ALL the people of a city in the democracy those men and women fought for. People like you are little different from the vile vermin who were forced out of power in 1945 by brave men like my grandfather, who signed up as a private and retired as a Captain. Anybody who served, which you didn't, knows what that means, even in wartime. We had all hoped that the sacrifices of these true heroes would result in a lasting harmony, but once again the face of fascism has reared its ugly head, in the form of politicians with ideologies like what you have brought to our once compassionate city.

Do your concerns extend at all to those who served our country, but who are currently struggling to find shelter in the streets? Does it bother you in the slightest that their service to our country and the horrors they experienced are likely part of the reason they are at risk of dying while trying to find somewhere to survive as you order the destruction of one encampment after another while offering no tangible solution of shelter?

A motel room for a week is not a solution, and you are fully aware that once you order them evicted, which we are told is already happening, those human beings, including our veterans, will have no choice but to transition back to the streets and alleys to be harassed by police on a constant basis, as per your orders. Your colourful stories about providing long-term shelter serve only to allow you to continue fuelling your twisted need to hurt the weakest and most destitute members of our society, including our veterans who you pretend to honour today, but will joyfully bring harm to after the Remembrance Day services.

That two-faced duplicity is the performance of a bully pretending to be something else, which are the actions of a coward. It is a sad irony, that a ‘man" who appears to have been too afraid to serve is put in a position to bring harm to the courageous men and women who defended our nation.

Clearly, you don't care in the slightest about our veterans, and this is just another political excuse to use their sacrifices for your personal promotion, which is a lot like when you claim to be some kind of devout Christian to garner votes, but were exposed as a hypocrite and liar by multiple local members of the clergy, from denominations and churches across our city. As you know, Reverend Canon Simon Bell of St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, in Barrie, said of you:

“I'm tired of talking to the mayor. I'm tired of being shouted at. I'm tired of being insulted. I'm tired of sitting through meetings for hours and hours and hours, when he's belligerent, and horrible, and nasty, and insulting to us. So, I've given up on that conversation. And so, for me personally, I'm organizing active defiance. That's what I'm doing.” Video

Housing Is The Best Proven Path To Recovery

Our long-term goal is to oversee the construction of a tiny-house community to aid in the transitional housing of all homeless people, most likely to break ground only after the current regime of Mayor Alex Nuttall is a distant speck in the rearview mirror of local politics. If Mayor Alex Nuttall is not removed from office on October 26, 2026, the issue of homelessness will be moot, as it appears quite evident that his intention is to resolve the crisis by alternative means that will result in the deaths of many innocent people. The community we propose will prioritize veterans, as well as former police officers, fire fighters, emergency medical service providers, and other first responders, many of which are traumatized and are part of the homeless community that Mayor Alex Nuttall is ordering to be eradicated.

As advocates for veterans' rights, we once found ourselves being questioned by officers of the RCMP and agents of CSIS for trying to pitch a tent on the front lawn of Parliament Hill in support of our homeless heroes.

Those trapped in the Barrie homeless community have no sense of safety, no food security, no way to move forward, and they feel utterly abandoned and alone in a town where police are constantly harassing them.

Our Limited Space Does Not Limit Our Level Of Care For Those In Need

For those who have not been fortunate enough to secure housing, it is vital that they attain the best tents and outdoor survival equipment as possible for constructing outside shelter. It is also vital that they are provided with a steady supply of food to maintain their health and a stable core temperature. It is no joke that an hour of severe shivering can burn approximately 400 calories, meaning 9,600 calories per day are needed simply to maintain their status.

For purposes of reference, a large pizza averages 2,400 calories of food energy for the entire pie.

Some of the food we take out for outreach is donated by caring citizens, some comes from restaurants and pizza parlours, and snacks originate from stores, often when it is approaching the best by date. We are always happy to promote those businesses in the way of thanks on social media. Stores also donate other items, like toiletries, bottled water, snacks facing expiry, and out of style or slow selling clothing. Regardless, much of what is needed must be purchased, which relies on monetary donations. Then, there are cups, take out containers, cutlery, etc. that also need to be provided.

Alex Nuttall claims to be a devout Christian, but he does everything he can to hurt those suffering as homeless; meanwhile, volunteers of various faiths, or none, often risk their safety on stormy nights to show compassion.

Currently, The Truth Has Little If Any Place In Barrie City Hall

The primary reason why the Big Blue Box project was suddenly needed is the dramatic shift in policy and attitude by city staff and officers of the Barrie Police Service that occurred after Mayor Alex Nuttall assumed the office of mayor. The result has been a much higher level of cruelty, isolation, abuse, and frequent violations of the rights of the individuals under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It is due to our honest reporting on those issues that 'all' media, or at least those that will not be controlled through advertising budgets by City Hall, are now being banned from reporting on how police move in on encampments to unlawfully evict those who are struggling to survive at the lowest possible level. Now, these victims of the actions and policies of our openly bigoted mayor must live in a world where overnight, and for no discernible reason, they were suddenly being treated as criminals, when their only 'crime' is being abandoned by society.

Those in the homeless community are often victims of circumstances, as listed above, yet they are treated in Barrie like criminals due to the personal prejudice of a barely elected official accused twice of election fraud.

They Cannot Move Forward Without Stable Shelter

It is hard to accept a job when a person does not have access to a shower or laundry, or to find a way to eat at work when all their meals are set to the schedules of organizations that are for the most part sympathetic, but not always overly flexible. Those who want to work must also worry that if they leave their meagre possessions, will their property be there when they get back? Worst of all, how do they get enough rest to go to work when officers of the Barrie Police Service, working under the orders of Mayor Alex Nuttall, are constantly pushing them out of wherever they found temporary lodgings?

Many in the homeless and unsheltered community work, either steadily or on a sporadic basis, but without a base of shelter and security, they cannot dig out of the hole in which they are trapped.

Within the Big Blue Box project:

Our residents and couples enjoy the security of a private room, with hallway surveillance cameras to ensure their privacy, and that their property is respected.
They enjoy respect-based access to a modern kitchen and all it contains, night and day, so they can make their own meals and take them whenever they need them.
They enjoy respect-based access to laundry, in the evening and on weekends, with reasonable restrictions to ensure residents are only washing their own clothes.
They enjoy respect-based access to a large workshop with every common tool known to man, which is open to residents to use to repair property, and to be creative.
They enjoy respect-based access to our large yard, for relaxing, and for sorting property, especially when first moving in from the cold.
They enjoy respect-based access to our full gym, featuring a top end Bow Flex, free weights, a treadmill, and a variety of other pro-gym-quality equipment.

Apart from a couple of false starts, it has worked for most, with surprisingly few issues.

Planning Failure For Profit

If it had been the goal of the City of Barrie to help these people find work, to attain housing, and to get them off the streets, they would have done something like what we did, but with a budget and expert guidance. There are plenty of vacant houses and commercial buildings in Barrie, and if the property is dormant for an extended period, City Hall has the authority to claim use of it. Our producer volunteers, but they would hire staff, they would get a kitchen working that tenants could use, they would set up some computers, install some security cameras in sensitive areas, and provide private secure rooms. From there, they would filter potential clients, get them to agree with some basic rules and an agenda that is livable, and then let the people feather in and begin the process of recovery before pushing them to comply with any demands of the system.

The housing-first template has been shown to work around the world and is accepted as the most viable.

Instead, the City of Barrie, under our mayor who would be king, holds housing out like a carrot, because Alex Nuttall, also known as 'he who knows all', and 'is always the smartest person in the room' is always right. Instead of just providing housing, those in need are told that if they spend a month doing exactly what they are told to do in a strict, government run drug program, they will be provided a room and an opportunity not to freeze to death in a tent this winter.

A fact-based estimate is that only 3-7% of retail spending on illegal drugs comes from people experiencing homelessness, but they must all go through the substance abuse program to get housing.

This kind of purely speculative filtering, that is applied only to people who are economically destitute, violates the right of the individual to 'security of the person', as is guaranteed to all Canadians under Section Seven of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Imagine the reaction if people of colour coming into Canada were filtered out of the standard cue, and forced to prove they were not terrorists by going through a strict series of tests, that have no scientific basis, that are intended to break them down and force them to confess to crimes they did not commit.

Such abuses are not acceptable when levied against people based on race, gender identity, or religion, but for some reason Barrie's mayor thinks he has the authority to abuse and dictate terms of survival to the poor.

The result is that most people do not make it through to the end of the program, as is planned by a system intent on causing them to fail. When they cannot comply with the rules, or they relapse in any way, they are kicked out and sent on a bus to be dumped in another town so Mayor Alex Nuttall can falsely claim the numbers of homeless are decreasing, when he knows those people are simply deported out of town, like victims of an ICE campaign in Trump's 'Merica'. In doing this, the system created by the mayor and council of the City of Barrie is perpetuating the cycle of the victims pushing a huge rock up a hill, repeatedly, trying to succeed at an insurmountable task.

Many of the residents of encampments are dealing with ongoing, and often untreated mental health issues, and facilities like those chosen for these programs are known triggers for their symptoms, causing them to fail.

Choosing A Location To Trigger Failure

The City of Barrie proposed to use the former Barrie Police Service headquarters at 29 and 35 Sperling Dr. as a warming/cooling station. The offer came after dozens of homeless human beings were left without shelter due to the malicious actions of the City of Barrie and the Barrie Police Service, who destroyed multiple encampments, including the tiny house community at Flat Rock.

The excuse for that action was contamination by E. coli, caused by the residents being forced to use the pond as a septic tank. However, local mainstream media refused to even touch on how the harm was partially caused by Mayor Alex Nuttall who for reasons of personal prejudice, chose two years earlier to deny local churches providing porta-potties to encampments at no cost to the City of Barrie.

It is within the former Barrie Police Service station where many of those surviving in the homeless community currently would have been incarcerated at one time or another, and in many cases, they report being assaulted: sometimes by several officers with clubs. The Barrie Police Service is much better now than it used to be, but there was time, through until about 15 years ago, when officers were reported to brazenly abuse their authority and were known for assaulting prisoners.

There is no reason that specific building was chosen other than to ensure failure for those living in encampments and on the streets. The city made an offer but was declined. To most people's limited knowledge of the subject, that would suggest that it is not the city's fault the offer failed. They also would not take into consideration the distance that building is from downtown, where all the services for the homeless and unsheltered are located. To those of limited knowledge, the city looked like heroes, and people lost sympathy for the homeless victims of manipulation.

A first-year psych student could see the choice of venue was malicious, and it was intended to ensure failure.

The Mayor And Council Have A Hundred Million Reasons To Lie

The mayor and council do not want those suffering within the homeless and unsheltered community to succeed, because if the program is successful, and the number of homeless people is dramatically reduced, they will lose potential access to the hundred million dollars that Mayor Alex Nuttall admitted during this State of Emergency speech that the City of Barrie was receiving to fight the homeless crisis.

As they teach young, idealistic doctors on their first day of medical school, 'A patient cured is a customer lost.'

Planned failure has always been part of the 'war on drugs' in the United States, which is why it continued to flounder for several decades despite being fought by the most heavily militarized country in the world. Some would argue the same is true when considering the investment in finding a cure for cancer. Those in Barrie, who have potential to profit, appear to be simply copying those techniques of generating endless cashflow through the failure of victims onto the local homeless crisis, with little monitoring of how it is spent. A hundred million dollars is a lot of incentive to clear the streets through social murder and then claim success because the numbers decreased. Exposure of such a plan is also extremely unlikely in a city where the media is not only complicit, but motivated to turn a blind eye as the City of Barrie is a large source of advertising income.

Lies, Misinformation, Ignorance, and False Statements

Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall has apparently convinced himself, and those of a limited mindset, that whoever is trapped in the world of homelessness is a drug addict and that they want to live on the streets. These beliefs are based solely on his own ignorant assumptions, that appear to be based on the premise that as the homeless have nowhere else to go to use, and they are all somehow the same person due to their economic status, if one uses, they all do. Mayor Alex Nuttall's assertions are utterly without fact, and are based purely on personal prejudices, his political goals, and what he believes his supporters want to hear. We prefer to rely on statistics and facts, and draw on direct, firsthand experience. It appears Mayor Alex Nuttall's beliefs are the prognostication of a fool, as last year, while being recorded on camera, Mayor Alex Nuttall admitted that, despite declaring a state of war against the poorest sector of our society, he had never ventured into an encampment, and he had never met with those who he judges from the vacuum of ignorance.

Would you be comfortable lying in an operating room and hearing the surgeon say: 'I have never done this surgery before, and colleagues have told me not to do it, but I believe in myself and my ability to do it right.'

Mayor Alex Nuttall Announced A Plan To Block Starving And Poor From Using Public Services, Including Libraries

Mayor Alex Nuttall also announced a proposed ban against all homeless people that would prevent these citizens, who have equal rights under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, from using the public library, and other community buildings, based SOLELY on their poverty. For reasons beyond the grasp of healthy minded people, Mayor Alex Nuttall saw all people who are living without shelter to be, for some unexplained reason, a threat to children, who are in a public building, surrounded by other adults, including specially trained library personnel, security staff, and their parents or guardians.

We used advanced journalistic AI research tools to ask: 'Is there any substance to a claim that poor people, or the homeless, are in any way a threat to children who are not homeless?'

In Canada, there’s no good evidence supporting a broad claim that poor people or people experiencing homelessness are, as a group, a heightened threat to children who are housed. What Canadian research and official reporting does show is almost the opposite: people experiencing homelessness are disproportionately victimized (including violence and sexual victimization) and often live with elevated exposure to harm.

Mayor Alex Nuttall also used that same unsubstantiated premise as an excuse to unlawfully evict an encampment in Berczy Park, where officers of the Barrie Police Service, working under his orders, also arrested a member of the media to prevent him from recording the truth about the abuses of authority by staff for the City of Barrie and officers of the Barrie Police Service. Despite having conducted extensive research, we can find no statistic, nor any kind of correlation to substantiate that people living without shelter, who have no other known association or criminal history, are in truth any kind of danger to children. The charges against the journalist, that we have always maintained were undertaken for reasons of intimidation, were withdrawn when the prosecutor was forced to admit that there was no chance of a conviction.

The one reference we found to the 'concern' of exposure to the poor, brought retort from police, psychiatrists, and other experts who called the premise absurd, and compared it to saying green jellybeans hurt children.

Refusing To Do The Research And Stating Ignorance As Fact Is Just A Lazy Cowards Way Of Lying

Our in-depth research, using standard techniques and enhanced AI research utilities, revealed:

"Using Canadian homelessness counts and federal data on substance use, plus Canada-specific studies on daily drug spending, a reasonable estimate is 3 - 7% of retail spending on illegal (non-cannabis) drugs comes from people experiencing homelessness. That means 93 - 97% is financed by people who are housed." Article.

"Based on Ontario coroner data and municipal/provincial reports, about 15–20% of opioid toxicity deaths in recent years involve people experiencing homelessness, while 80–85% involve people who were housed. If we could perform this research, why can't Alex Nuttall or his staff; unless their goal is to spread deception about those trapped in the homeless community who he sees as a way to tap $100,000,000.00?

A Man Who Was Accused Twice Of Election Fraud, Who Is Noted For His Cruelty, Should Not Be Given Power Over Life And Death

Alex Nuttall likes to pretend he is a Christian, most likely to raise money for campaigns from those of truly devout faith, as it is clear he does not in ANY way abide by the teachings of the saviour by who's lessons he claims to live. He also blatantly works against scripture such as Proverbs 28:15–16: "A wicked ruler is as dangerous to the poor as a roaring lion or an attacking bear. A ruler with no understanding will oppress his people." or James 5:1–6: "You have condemned and murdered the righteous person, who does not resist you."

Mayor Alex Nuttall has shown that despite his claims of adhesion to scripture, he relies much more on deception, misinformation, transparent lying, and of defiling the office to which he was barely elected.

I am not by any means a religious man, and I truly could not care less if Alex Nuttall wants or needs to live the life of a Pharisaic. However, if the mayor of Barrie will lie so brazenly about what he claims is the centre of his being, what else is he deceiving voters about? For example, how much of the hundred million dollars he bragged about during the press conference to announce his contrived 'State of Emergency', which is supposed to be used to help the homeless, will be 'rerouted' to places like Barrie Cares, and their new and unproven 'Campus of Care' that is run by a group of his friends? Also, how many times has our mayor knowingly deceived other levels of government to secure more funding based on outright deception?

Why was Alex Nuttall so afraid to prove his claims of defecation by a 'homeless man' in City Hall's pond, and why did he order City Hall legal staff to obstruct justice to avoid testifying about abuses of public funds?

Barrie's mayor has blatantly lied to the public and media to gain support and then refuses to back up his claims. His attitude suggests that the human beings who are barely surviving without shelter are nothing but a pawn in his plans for political advancement. Frankly, none of that sounds very Christian. Also, the fact that he has been accused twice of election fraud, at both the federal and provincial levels, speaks volumes as to his character, or lack thereof. Those without shelter have no protection in a system dominated by a man who both city councillors and members of the clergy have described as an awful person and a brutal bully who is apparently not guided in any way by a functioning moral compass. When Those Entrusted To Find A Solution Become The Problem

Before Alex Nuttall became Mayor, which happened mostly as the result of a split vote between two less oppressive and more compassionate candidates, the City held events in the City Hall Rotunda, welcoming those in the homeless community, and the compassionate volunteers who helped them.

Our mayor showed his true pusillanimous nature by blocking those who did not agree with him.

Under Mayor Alex Nuttall, charitable, not-for-profit, and benevolent community groups that wanted to help the homeless, or who dared to show compassion for the people the mayor clearly despised, suddenly had to pay fees to use the Rotunda. Also, new by-laws were rammed through City Council, making it a finable offence for taxpayers to help those in need through the donation of money, food, water, sleeping bags, gift cards, tents, or any form of survival equipment.

What kind of mental illness would cause a seemingly functional human being to order death by starvation or exposure against a diverse group of people solely because they are poor and not able to afford shelter?

Is Alex Nuttall Venting Childhood Trauma Against The Defenceless?

Multiple sources claim that Mayor Alex Nuttall suffered from some form of childhood trauma, reportedly linked to a homeless or unsheltered man, which speculatively could be the driving force behind his one-man war to eliminate the weak and destitute. These claims are not confirmed, but we have posted the assertions several times, both in print and on video, and neither Mayor Alex Nuttall nor the City of Barrie have in any way contested the reports. There has been no threat of civil action, no formal request for a retraction, no claim of defamation, no legal demand to cease and desist, and not even an email saying our claims are unfounded. It does not take an advanced degree in psychology to see that with regards to Mayor Alex Nuttall, something deep and personal is driving putrid bile to the surface. It is also NOT normal for a grown, professional man to allow claims of childhood trauma to be made against him without raising a challenge, unless the claims are true. That is especially valid when the subject knows that the media source reporting the claims is viewed more than 300,000 times a month, or ten thousand times a day, by mostly local viewers.

Some say it is wrong to expose that kind of trauma to the public, but when it appears to be driving the person to bring deliberate harm to innocent people, the safety of the many outweighs the right to privacy of the one.

We also know that the claims are reaching the taxpayers and voters of Barrie, as details of our own reporting are frequently relayed to us at events and outside our studios by people who do not remember where they read or viewed it. It seems quite apparent that Mayor Alex Nuttall fears the evidence we will raise if he abuses his voter granted authority to challenge the claims, and that the incidents he fears being exposed will be seen by a learned Justice of the High Court to directly relate to his brutal and obnoxious actions against those trapped in the homeless community.

Mayor Manages Mainstream Media As The City of Barrie Tries To Silence The Truth

In Berczy Park, our Producer, who has worked in international journalism, including with Greenpeace and in war zones, and who has donated more than $700,000.00 in services to hundreds of local charities, was arrested by officers of the Barrie Police Service for wanting to record the unlawful and abusive actions by staff for the City of Barrie and those same officers of the Barrie Police Service. No person from either of those agencies has denied the truth of that allegation.

Under Mayor Alex Nuttall, journalists become criminals when exercising their right to tell the truth.

For perspective, in 2021, our team was honoured for our ongoing contributions to our community by being nominated and voted to the highest level for the "Paying It Forward" award for altruism, presented by the City of Barrie and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce. However, when we chose to step up to report on how the homeless were being abused by staff of the City of Barrie and officers of the Barrie Police Service, we were suddenly criminals.

The day before, while we were welcome in the park, we recorded multiple violations of Charter rights, and video of City contractors taking bribes; then suddenly, the park was closed and our journalist was targeted for arrest.

Oppression of The Media - A Favourite Tactic Of Dictators and Despots

Staff for the City of Barrie and officers of the Barrie Police Service showed that they were quite willing to violate the Charter of Rights and Freedoms of Canadian citizens in distress, and of journalists, and to ignore an order of the Superior Court protecting those barely sheltered Canadian citizens. Those violations included breaches of Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, "right to life, liberty, and security of the person" and Section 2B, 'Freedom of Expression'.

Those charges, of being a journalist reporting on a story of corruption in a public park, were so weak and without support that once all the blathering and bolster was swept aside, a judge ordered a Charter Challenge regarding the abuse of authority. The City of Barrie, a mega-corporation worth millions of dollars, who have in-house counsel and lawyers on retainer, chose to cut and run by withdrawing the charges rather than allowing a self-represented journalist to summons Mayor Alex Nuttall to the stand to explain under oath against our growing pile of evidence, why he ordered police to abuse their authority in order to conceal his abuse of city property and personnel for personal profit.

The abuse of authority by the Barrie Police Services was intended to intimidate, and when it did not work, neither they nor Mayor Alex Nuttall had a clue what to do. Instead of standing up and answering to his abuses, Mayor Alex Nuttall hid under his desk and called on taxpayer funded City Hall legal staff to dismiss the charges that had failed to accomplish the intended result of intimidation, and which now were being used to compel him to tell the truth and face the evidence. Mayor Alex Nuttall acted similarly when he was advised he was being summonsed to the first scheduled date for the trial, in August of 2025, at which point he refused to arrange a time a place for service, and chose instead to ignore the call to witness while hiding behind City Hall security.

We proved to be the only ones willing to stand up to our mayor who would be king, as for reasons that are truly obvious, every local media source who covered the arrest of a colleague refused to report the story.

Political corruption: the use of powers by government officials or their network contacts for illegitimate private gain. Forms of corruption vary but can include bribery, lobbying, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, parochialism, patronage, influence peddling, graft, control of the media, and embezzlement.

Bullies And Narcissists Abhor Humiliation Above All Else

Although we do not claim to be qualified to diagnose anybody regarding mental health issues, we can say from observation that Mayor Alex Nuttall displays, on a regular basis, all of the traits of somebody afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD); a mental health condition characterized by persistent patterns of grandiosity, a need for admiration, and a visible lack of empathy.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) notes that diagnosis requires meeting at least five of nine DSM-5 criteria, including exaggerated self-importance, fantasies of unlimited success or power, entitlement, and exploitative behaviour.

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) BC Division emphasizes that while many people show some narcissistic traits, a true disorder is defined by extreme, inflexible traits that cause significant impairment in daily life and relationships.

Humiliation is extremely damaging to a narcissist, and public exposure of their failures triggers intense shame, rage, a sense of worthlessness, and a deep need to retaliate; often leading to extreme defensiveness, denial, or vengeful acts to protect their fragile self-esteem, as criticism shatters their grandiose self-image and public status. We have been targeted multiple times in this way by Mayor Alex Nuttall.

Our ongoing reporting is having a similar effect to how American late night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert have firmly dug a place under the thin orange skin of established narcissist Donald Trump.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Mayor Alex Nuttall has been described by both councillors and clergy as a bully, who yells at anybody who disagrees with him, and who must be the only voice in the room. He has also crooned on to various friendly mainstream media sources that regardless of being granted strong mayor powers, his authority should be even greater. Mayor Alex Nuttall has also bragged about how other cities will follow his unlawful pattern of abusing the Charter rights of citizens to eliminate by force the homeless crisis that was created at least partially by the government at various levels, even if his plan leads to social murder.

That plan would likely be undertaken though a pattern of deliberate negligence, and limiting access to essential services and resources, leading to the death of dozens or hundreds of people by exposure or starvation.

Mayor Alex Nuttall has also sought to receive the admiration of other mayors by spending a quarter of a million dollars to have the 'biggest pole and flag in Ontario', which he bought with money provided by an out of town contractor who was likely motivated in some Trumpian way to appease the mayor of Barrie, who acts as if he is much more than the mayor of Canada's 22nd largest city. Our side-by-side comparison of Trump and Nuttall drew considerable attention, both for and against the facts presented.

Staff inside City Hall tell us they can tell from his reaction, or sudden mood change, when Mayor Alex Nuttall has read our latest analytical article, or viewed our most recent parodical AI generated artwork.

The presentation of facts, and our graphic depictions meant to very effectively draw attention, are not what Mayor Alex Nuttall wants to see presented about himself, which is consistent with somebody suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Our fully researched, and thus far never contested, articles and art often depict Mayor Alex Nuttall to be deceptive, weak, and impotent, which is what he projects himself to be through his insecurities, such as through his need to constantly attack the poorest and weakest members of our society.

Alex Nuttall clearly wants to project an appearance of strength, but all people remember is the mockery, and the statistically and evidence-supported exposure of a man too weak to even deny our reporting.

Bullies Don't Like It When Somebody Stands Up To Them

We are also advised by persons with knowledge of the matter, that after three years of denying warming centres and ignoring the homeless crisis, Mayor Alex Nuttall is now making them available much earlier in the season as he is reported to now fear being pushed out of office, during the coming election year, due to negative poll numbers influenced by the humiliating effect that our articles, videos, and original artwork about him have had on the taxpayers and voters of Barrie.

We have shown and will continue to present how Mayor Alex Nuttall is reported by ministers, reverends, and priests to be bullying, obnoxious, and 'nasty', and by councillors to be all-controlling, hated, and reviled. Mayors and Councils of other cities and towns despise him for having dumped his city's homeless crisis onto them instead of having taken appropriate action three years ago by building shelters and affordable housing.

Now, citizens by the thousands who might not have cared about the plight of those suffering on the streets, like, share, and follow our stories, and we receive offers of support for the homeless and our efforts.

Those politically apathetic people are now coming to understand that Mayor Alex Nuttall is simply an egomaniac who is faced with an election and is trying to cover his ass after three years of utter negligence and incompetence. It is no different than when our imperialistic mayor attempted, and failed due to our reporting, to create a soft and fuzzy caring persona, resemblant of Mr. Rogers. Suddenly, he pretended he was worried about those living in tents, and all he wanted to do was help them. Meanwhile, before donning the cardigan, Mayor Alex Nuttall's first significant action as mayor was to try to criminalize compassion by making it a finable offence for taxpayers to give any homeless person any support, even as insignificant as a bottle of water or a sandwich.

During the past few months, as we have increased our coverage of the homeless crisis and Alex Nuttall's negligence, our following, both public and clandestine, has increased dramatically.

If He Can't Catch, He Shouldn't Throw

It was Mayor Alex Nuttall's unilateral and continuing attacks against both our commercial business and benevolent community service, as has been reported by three non-associated local business owners, that has caused him to be exposed for abusing his authority as mayor, for allegedly defrauding taxpayers through actions he ordered at Berczy Park that improved the standard of living for his family at the expense of taxpayers, and he is being mocked accordingly, both by the voters of Barrie and his counterparts in other municipalities. We know from our visitor tracking system that our stories have been visited hundreds of times by what we presume are mayors and councillors, as the visitors accessed our page from City and Town Halls from coast to coast.

His own abuse of power caused Alex Nuttall to become the laughingstock of local politics in Canada.

Mainstream Media Toes The Line

Management in local mainstream media, many of whom have been in Barrie so long they are reliant on the local market for employment, are reported by insiders to be intimidated by Mayor Alex Nuttall. It is also said that they are often reluctant to report the truth about his abuses of authority, and multiple violations of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The 2026 City of Barrie budget allocates $1,500,344.00 to “Marketing and Communications”, a huge part of which is advertising, and local mainstream media services are forced to toe the line if they want a piece of that pie, or full access to City Hall.

Five Points Media is a social enterprise community media service that receives no money from the government, nor we are dependent on advertisers. That is why we can report the truth, as journalists are supposed to do, without fear of blowback from City Hall. That gives us the ability to punch the lunch money stealing bully right in the nose, metaphorically speaking, and to tell the truth to more followers every day who are tired of the small-town cabal who control our city.

Neither Mayor Alex Nuttall nor City Hall have ever denied abusing the 'authority' of various departments of municipal enforcement to attack us, all of which have failed in a very public and humiliating way.

Old Stock Conservatives Don't Know How To Defend Cowardice And Sociopathy

Some local hardcore conservatives, who can no longer justify voting for a man who is obviously abusive of his power and who has no empathy, try to contest our reporting, as we are the only ones with sufficient financial independence to publish the truth about this elected official who is reported to be abusive by both councillors and clergy. All others are dependent upon advertising income from the City of Barrie, which is said to be one of the most immoderate and free-spending self-promotors in the region. Many of those visitors say something unsupportable, such as we are going to go to jail for telling the truth, or they start with insults.

However, so far, none of those people, some of whom are connected to the city, have been able to stand up to the evidence that Mayor Alex Nuttall clearly fears to have to defend himself against in a court of law.

We always substantiate our reporting with links to the evidence, as we have done throughout this story, and neither Mayor Alex Nuttall nor the City of Barrie have ever contested, nor moved to seek retraction of any of our assertions. It also doesn't help Mayor Alex Nuttall's' credibility when the bully hides under his desks, refusing to speak on camera, or to face the facts of his own abuses and negligence, and goes so far as to order the City of Barrie legal department to obstruct justice so he can evade having to tell the truth, under oath, against the growing pile of evidence in a court of law, based on an oath to the Bible he claims as a true hypocrite to live by.

A narcissist must have full control of the situation, and when he cannot gaslight or manipulate, as is true in court, he lashes out, as Alex Nuttall has done through abuses of city authority and unsupportable charges.

Bloody Nosed Bully Abuses Authority Of City To Extract Revenge

We have included, in support of our articles, many letters we have sent to Mayor Alex Nuttall and his minions in City Hall, in which we openly accused them of abusing the authority of their By-Law and Property Standards divisions in a lame and ultimately failed attempt to intimidate us. We have received zero replies.

Their goal was to show off their 'authority' to scare us away from reporting on how Mayor Alex Nuttall abused City of Barrie property and personnel for personal profit, and the attacks on our building and existence started immediately after we advised Mayor Alex Nuttall of our intent to file the report of conflict of interest that could easily force him out of his lofty position.

That report, that will now include harassment by false criminal charges, is being compiled, and will likely be presented to the Integrity Commissioner after the holidays. It will also be sent to every news service in Ontario, with links to this page, and to all pending candidates for the office of the mayor. When the facts are raised during the debates, our crew will record the evasive excuses that we will share.

Abuses of authority only work on people who are afraid of the system, and who do not know how to collect or present evidence, which is not true of somebody who is both a journalist and former private investigator.

Abusing Authority of City Hall To Attack His Critics and Taxpaying Residents

Given Mayor Alex Nuttall's established pattern of abuse, which led to allegations of election fraud, both provincially and federally, it will come as little surprise to many that Barrie's current mayor is also accused by various people of using his voter entrusted authority to attack people and businesses he does not like.

On June 26, 2023, our community media service released a video entitled "Standing with our Homeless Neighbours". More details are included above but sufficed to say it was not supportive of City Council's campaign to starve out the homeless by denying them basic human rights.

About ten days later, on July 7, 2023, our crew, working under the flag of our commercial division, was retained by an established client, a local micro brewery, to record video and take promotional photographs of their grand opening. Both Mayor Alex Nuttall and Paul Markle, the Executive Director of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, were in attendance, and we happily worked with them to document the event. The Chamber had openly supported Council's plan to further abuse the rights of the unsheltered community, and we had outed them for it, which is what media does in a free society where rights are respected. During the event, our crew members noticed both 'officials' chatting with the company owner in a serious tone, while gesturing toward our Producer.

Given the glowing reviews volunteered by these business owners and representatives of local charities, it seems highly unlikely that the owners would suddenly, and without reason, cancel doing any further business with our team. Since 2014, our team has been accredited as being the best videographers in Barrie by the international Three Best Rated consumer guide. We are also the best equipped and most experienced crew, and we have the only professional video and media studio in Barrie outside of Rogers and CTV.

That was the last job we ever did for that client, and he was only the first of many to abandon us, as fear spread of the wrath of our elected Mayor, who is also reported to hold total control, like a dictator, over City Council.

A Solid Reputation for Altruism in Our Community

During the previous municipal administration, when Mayor Alex Nuttall was not dictating city policy without feedback or a true vote from council, our contributions to our community were recognised and applauded. Now, our charitable service, which is known for being progressive politically, has become the target of repeated attacks, which started after the seat of power changed in City Hall. It does not require a long leap of faith to understand that a hard-right Conservative, who would support Maxime Bernier, and who has twice been accused of election fraud, would not want a Progressive voice in 'his' city, which would appear to be why Mayor Alex Nuttall decided it was his right, as self-anointed 'emperor', to try to shut us down.

Five Points Media is Barrie's only truly independent media service, and as far as we know, we are the only ones who engage in investigative journalism. As a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, who documented combat during the Bosnian civil war, and in Israel during the first Gulf War, it is important to our Producer, John, that we support the rights of our citizens, and that we push back against political movements like fascism. This puts us at odds with the current municipal dictatorship that appears to work only to satisfy the ego of a single very weak 'man'.

We support accountable representation and the rights that are guaranteed to all citizens under the Charter.

The rift was further exacerbated on March 14, 2025, when our Producer notified Mayor Alex Nuttall of his intent to file an ethics complaint against him as mayor for seemingly abusing taxpayer resources for personal gain, which included both an improvement in the quality of life for his children, and apparent personal profit.

Within a week, City Hall engaged in a campaign of harassment against our benevolent, not-for-profit, social enterprise media service that has so far donated more than $700,000.00 in services, through the gifting of greater than 350 promotional and educational videos, to no less than 180 local charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent community groups.

Alex Nuttall chose to ignore our contributions to the community, and our donated services to the city and county, because we disagreed with him, which was much more important than helping hundreds of charities.

Abusing City of Barrie Resources for Intimidation

During the winter of 2024/25, the City of Barrie experienced more than its fair share of ice, and our studio was no exception. As was the case in many places, ice built up to a dangerous depth, and we had to melt it off and break it up to lessen the strain on the roof and to reduce the risk of it falling on somebody. In our case, the result was a chunk taking off a piece of our eavestrough.

A response within a few days would never have raised our suspicion, but within hours, some wannabe cop in the Barrie By-Law office saw the damage, saw an opportunity to shine in the eyes of Alex Nuttall, and quickly compiled a report that they sent to us by registered mail, threatening to charge us $100,000.00 as an individual, or $200,000.00 if we were incorporated, if we did not fix the issue.

The original citation, which in time became very fluid, was purported to have been based on a complaint by a neighbour. However, we know our neighbours, and we asked around. Then, when we contested that false claim, Kim Banting, the head of By-Law and Property Standards enforcement, changed the story, choosing instead to profess that one of her staff had approached our house after a complaint about our dogs, and had reported the damage to Property Standards, where for some unknown reason, our eavestrough became an absolute priority.

Again, we knew that story was false, as our neighbours love our dogs so much, that some come to visit them, and others stop us when on walks to do likewise.

What kind of a weak ass politician needs to abuse the authority of the office he won by a minority vote to cover for his own mistakes, rather than taking responsibility for his actions? Mayor Alex Nuttall appears quite content with taking everybody in City Hall down with him.

The timing of the complaint / threat would have required that the report was written and filed on the day the ice took out the eavestrough, which is extremely efficient work for a City of Barrie bureaucrat.

Who Let The Dog Out?

Then later, that dog investigator, reported to be Raymond White, appeared to completely forget about the supposed dog complaint, based again mostly on our questioning of the source. Then we learned that there had been an absurd number of hits on our page for the Big Blue Box Studios Facebook page, which was unprecedented as that page is a fluff account, and only has a few dozen likes or followers. What it does have, however, is photos and written content about our dogs. Then, a few weeks later, our Producer spoke with Bryan Keene, a Supervisor in Enforcement Services, seeking details on the number of dogs that could live and/or visit our Big Blue Box Studios, and he said it was not his job to tell people how many dogs they could have, nor to take away dogs that exceed the number permitted by the bylaw. That phone conversation, which was recorded, rather succinctly closes the box regarding the true motivation behind the actions taken against us by the By-Law and Property Standards Enforcement Division of the City of Barrie, which then leaves only the question of why did they do it?

The story about the dog complaint has never been pursued by City Hall, and the reason is it was a lie, created by the minions of Mayor Alex Nuttall to intimidate us not to file the fully supported ethics complaint against him.

The Dog Grooming Mechanic

In a further abuse of authority within the initial report, written by Carina Paoletti, a Property Standards Officer currently under full-time contract with the City of Barrie, the young wannabe cop noted that as part of her 'professional assessment', our van was 'non-functional' and should be towed away, presumably as scrap. She based that threat solely on us having committed the 'crime' of using a battery charger, which we had protected under a tarp over the engine.

We did some research and learned that when Carina Paoletti is not writing threatening reports to appease Mayor Alex Nuttall, she works as a dog groomer. From what we could find, there is no reference in her resume to having any kind of qualifications or even training in auto mechanics. Based solely on the visual appearance of a half-completed minor repair, this twenty-something year old woman felt sufficiently empowered as a member of Mayor Alex Nuttall's intimidation unit that she could demand that we prove to her satisfaction that the vehicle is road worthy.

A quick check of the insurance status would have shown that the van is fully insured for liability, as is consistent with a vehicle that is sidelined for a short period due to a minor mechanical issue. The entire dog and pony show was manufactured by the Barrie By-Law and Property Standards Enforcement Division with the goal being to coerce us to not expose the abuses of authority and taxpayer fraud that the evidence supports were committed by Mayor Alex Nuttall, who has never denied our allegations.

We chose to wait, to see if the dog grooming mechanic, the creative rewriter of stories, and the forgetful dog warden would take the rope and run, which is exactly what they did, up a tree to tie it into a noose.

We're Going To Get You, And Your Little Dogs Too!

After we exposed their unethical behaviour, we were fined $130.48. The office of By-Law and Property Standards were reluctant to tell us, but we learned that we could appeal the fine. Eventually, we were advised that the appeal would be heard through a slightly different office of the By-Law and Property Standards Division of Barrie City Hall, which is not in any way neutral or unbiased. We decided to go ahead with the appeal, even if only to show our followers the level of hypocrisy of City Hall. To validate some of our pleadings, we requested information from Kim Banting, regarding how many other Barrie taxpayers were served with citations of the same nature as the one sent to us, either before or after the ice storm that caused so much property damage to so many homes. We were not in the slightest bit surprised when the head of By-Law and Property Standards enforcement simply ignored that request, along with all other calls for professional services, including an investigation into the motivation of Carina Paoletti, who went well and above her pay grade as a dog groomer by demanding repairs be made to our van that she could not even identify as being a problem, but regarding which the repair had to be proven to her satisfaction.

Who exactly do these twenty-something year old, life experience deprived, self-ingratiating, bumptious meter maids in Walmart security guard uniforms, truly believe themselves to be?

Some People Do Know When To Quit

We advised Kim Banting of our intent to file a request for an investigation with Rob Flack, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, regarding her decision to ignore our request, and we were given a very vague response to our request for public information. Then, we completed our appeal, seven pages of pleadings and multiple pages of evidence, which included everything we have listed here, from the battery charger to the investigations of our Facebook pages, and the highly self-opinionated professionals representing the City of Barrie dived under the nearest table, whined to us that they were cancelling the ticket for reason unrelated to the supposed offence, and practically begged us to just leave them alone.

Barrie Mayor, Alex Nuttall, has not in any way contested our fully documented allegations that he violated public trust, abused taxpayer funded City resources, violated the rights of impoverished citizens, and potentially profited from those actions that also enhanced the standard of living for his family.

Multiple Reports of Intimidation by Mayor Alex Nuttall and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce

It is due to our commitment to our community that in 2021, at the height of the pandemic, our team was nominated and voted to the highest levels for the City of Barrie and Barrie Chamber of Commerce 'Pay It Forward' award for altruism. Although the current Mayor of Barrie, and the leaders of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, may choose to forget all we have given to those in need, that is not the case with all citizens of our shared community. So far, three local business owners who support our efforts have approached us with stories of being warned off, and in one case reportedly 'threatened', against using our professional media services.

To hell with charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent community groups, Alex Nuttall had a boo-boo from being exposed for being a hateful little man, and he was going to take down the journalist who stood up to him.

According to these highly credible sources, who reached out completely independently of each other and at different times, the 'warning' came either directly from a representative of the office of the mayor or through a conversation with somebody representing the Barrie Chamber of Commerce who claimed to be speaking on behalf of Mayor Alex Nuttall. Currently, two of those ethical and respected business owners have offered to testify should we choose to take this matter to court, where a ruling will be based on evidence. Apparently, our decision to stand up to our current municipal autocracy is loosening the chains of those who could not sWith nMayor Alex Nuttall facing the service of a summons to testify under oath, the prosecutor dropped the charges, advising the court that "there was no chance of conviction.tand under the weight of the threats for doing so.

We have this much time before the next Municipal Election

We Are Not Willing to Put Others In Danger of Reprisals by a Corrupt City Hall

Due to what we have experienced, we know there are legitimate reasons for these business owners to be concerned, and so, we have offered to wait until after the next municipal election, when hopefully Alex Nuttall is removed from office, before filing the civil action against him and the City of Barrie. The day after that election, to be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, is well within the two-year time limit dictated by the Superior Court for standard filing of civil claims for litigation. However, even if Mayor Alex Nuttall wins, we have all agreed that we will proceed, as our ethics will not allow this kind of alleged abuse of authority to continue.

It is worth noting, that in every instance that a politician, a corporation, a corrupt police official, or anybody else has ever tried to silence our right to Freedom of Expression as media, which is guaranteed under Section 2B of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, they have failed, often in a very expensive and humiliating fashion. Also, many local business operators, who feel they experienced blatant prejudice from City Hall under the current mayor and council, as well as by local politicians of every level, are now stepping up and reaching out to us with stories of how one contract or another went to a Conservative loyalist, even when that competitor was charging more, or they had a reputation for less than ethical practices.

Those business owners are now following our reporting on this matter, with some offering support, and many sharing their stories for us to present to Barrie voters and taxpayers.

The Mayor Who Would Be Emperor

Under Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, ALL citizens have the "right to life, liberty, and security of the person". On January 27, 2023, Justice Michael J. Valente, of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, extended the definition of a home to include tents in a homeless encampment. Valente also demanded very specific criteria that must be met before municipalities can evict the unsheltered from an encampment that has been established on public land, as was the case at Berczy Park.

Both the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the ruling of a Superior Court Justice significantly outrank the authority of any mayor in any city, town, village, or hamlet in Canada, except Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall.

Mayor Alex Nuttall showed his true dictatorial colours by ignoring both the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the ruling of Valente, both of which have more legal power than him. The law says married couples, people with service dogs and pets, those who feel at risk in shelters, and others with specific needs must be accommodated with a stable alternative to living in tents in an encampment. However, those who represented the City of Barrie and the County of Simcoe to the homeless occupants at Berczy Park flatly lied to convince people to leave their homes 'voluntarily', which meant By-Law buffoons dressed absurdly in flack jackets working with out of town for-cash contractors tearing down their tents and haul everything they owned to the city dump the second they walked five feet away from the only home available to them.

It is easy to ascertain by reviewing the reporting of local mainstream media that Conservatives in Barrie and City Hall are used to controlling what is said about them, which is why they keep trying, and failing, to bully us.

The Only Thing That Changed Is Nuttall

For more than ten years, before Alex Nuttall's rise to the position of self-anointed Emperor, we maintained a respectful relationship with the mayor and council. We did exercise our right as journalists to question their decisions, and in some cases, we challenged their ethics. However, they never abused their authority as part of any campaign to silence our registered and long-standing community media service, as was done at Berczy Park, when officers of the Barrie Police Service, working under the authoritarian orders of Mayor Alex Nuttall, arrested our Producer, an internationally experienced journalist, for exercising his right under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to expose the unethical and unlawful actions of those same officers who were working under the orders of Mayor Alex Nuttall.

Regardless of their status as police officers, the men and women of the Barrie Police Service unlawfully abused the rights of the encampment residents, which are guaranteed under Section 7, the "right to life, liberty, and security of the person". They also willfully violated our Producer's right, as a journalist, under Section 2B, the "freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication". Both are guaranteed by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, under Section 52(1) of the Constitution Act, 1982 – The supremacy clause.

Corruption Spreads Like Cancer, Consuming The Good With The Bad

Officers of the Barrie Police Service also ignored the order of Superior Court Justice Michael J. Valente, which protected encampments as homes. By taking these actions, police officers of the Barrie Police Service acted in a manner well beyond their authority, which is countermanded by the rights dictated in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and section 52(1) of the Constitution of Canada. Their right to arrest is also vacated by the order of the Superior Court, which supersedes their power to arrest law abiding citizens who refuse to acknowledge the jurisdiction of their unlawful commands. They also left themselves open to civil action. A trial date was finally set for December of 2025, 15 months after the supposed crime was committed, as demanded by the 'criminal' after he declined multiple offers to settle the charge. With Alex Nuttall facing the service of a summons to testify under oath, the prosecutor dropped the charges, advising the court that "there was no chance of conviction."

The problem with politicians like Alex Nuttall is that the corruption they seed in places like police departments continues to grow long after they are removed from office by taxpayers tired of paying for their abuses.

When You Choose A Path Of Vengeance, Be Prepared To Dig Two Graves

It is truly ironic or karmic that if Mayor Alex Nuttall had not started his personal campaign of oppression against the truth by trying to silence our voice through intimidation, which he is perpetuating to this day to no avail, we would have had no reason to review the allegations of election fraud at both the provincial and federal levels, or to question his ethics, or to so assertively confront his one-man war against the homelessness in Barrie. Mayor Alex Nuttall has, through his need for total control, brought upon himself every article and every video that we have produced, that will help to destroy not only his chance of re-election as mayor, but also his political career.

The links to our many social media reports and videos, as found in this feature article, will stymie Alex Nuttall's political career, no matter where he chooses to gorge at the public trough, as they are not going anywhere.

Taxpayers and voters by the hundreds of thousands have been shown that all Mayor Alex Nuttall has been able to do is hide from our reporting and even try to evade a summons to testify. He knows, or should do by now, what evidence we have to present in a court of law that he does not want to acknowledge when under oath, or to see put into a publicly accessible file. People know that the only viable reason for following this path to self-destruction is that Mayor Alex Nuttall knows the evidence proves our allegations. It is Mayor Alex Nuttall's' fear of exposure that caused him to abuse his position by initiating the campaign of harassment by the City of Barrie By-Law and Property Standards Enforcement Division, and the laying of false criminal charges that had 'zero chance of conviction' and other abuses.

This is how politics work in Barrie under the barely elected Mayor Alex Nuttall, as bullies grow up to be authoritarians: however, we are not giving him our lunch money, and we are not so easy to push around.

Traumatized Toddler Declares War On Personal Boogeyman

On September 9, 2025, Mayor Alex Nuttall decided to declare a state of emergency regarding the homeless crisis, which according to a constitutional lawyer had to have been pushed through without legal advice as the action violates the Constitution Act, 1867, and the Constitution Act, 1982, which contains the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which applies equally to all of us.

It's the supreme law, meaning any other law that is inconsistent with it is invalid.

Much of the crisis locally has been caused directly or indirectly by the multiple errors in judgement of Mayor Alex Nuttall. such as evicting people who had been living in fully insulated tiny houses on the Flat Rock encampment, and destroying their only shelter, before playing the fool and admitting he had nowhere to offer them instead but a partially constructed warming shelter where they could not even lay down.

Alex Nuttall has also not denied that his incompetence and bigotry helped to cause the E. coli outbreak on which he based the eviction but was clearly either not intelligent enough to resolve it, nor man enough admit his mistakes.

This parody video, through which we exposed the absolute stupidity of the plans concocted by Mayor Alex Nuttall, proved so incredibly popular that one follower paid for a full year's subscription to the AI video service so we could continue to use humour to mock our city's lord mayor wannabe emperor.

Barrie is not even one of the top ten cities in Canada that is afflicted by the national homelessness crisis. However, other cities, including ones dealing with much larger problems, have not needed to panic as Mayor Alex Nuttall did, and many of those other communities are resolving the crisis through compassionate plans, not metaphorical goosestepping and very real abuses of the rights of citizens and journalists, as are guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the Constitution Act.

In Barrie, the lies, misdirection, denial, non-responses, and other means of deception are a matter of policy, and they flow out of the mayor's office faster than all-natural fertilizer is conveyed out of a bull paddock.

Mayor Alex Nuttall Displays Both Hypocrisy And 'Heresy'

Alex Nuttall claims he is a devout Christian, but his often-cruel decisions are utterly antithetical to the teachings of 'his' professed saviour. When the crisis exploded, due heavily to his decision to ignore reality for three full years, Alex Nuttall knew he had to do something fast to improve his image. So, the 'good Christian' proved he was not morally 'above' walking on the bones of the dead to accomplish it.

Alex Nuttall's compulsion to hurt his fellow man is antithetical to the teachings of 'his' professed faith.

Compassion, caring, and faith in our common man are reflected much more by the Big Blue Box Studios unfunded shelter, and by our desire to directly assist those in need through outreach, and by providing the necessities of life, and very few if any of our members claim to hold to any strong religious beliefs.

The hypocrisy, and dare we say 'heresy', defined as "a belief or opinion that goes against the established beliefs or customs of a group, especially a religious one" is transparent to true people of faith.

Ministers, reverends, and priests, from various churches and denominations, led a protest against City Council's new by-laws to fine taxpayers if they help those in need with money, food, or the necessities of survival.

Alex Nuttall Exposed As Politically Motivated 'Pharisaic', Or Fake Christian

Reverend Canon Simon Bell of St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church in Barrie, Reverend Dr. Susan Eagle representing Grace United Church, and Father Larry Leger of St. Mary's Parish had some pretty strong words for Mayor Alex Nuttall, who claims to be one of their faithful followers, but who lives a life of hypocrisy.

Reverend Canon Simon Bell noted in a sermon to his congregation at St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church “I'm tired of talking to the mayor. I'm tired of being shouted at. I'm tired of being insulted. I'm tired of sitting through meetings for hours and hours and hours, when he's belligerent, and horrible, and nasty, and insulting to us. So, I've given up on that conversation. And so, for me personally, I'm organizing active defiance. That's what I'm doing.”

What kind of a person draws the ire of the mild and meek ministers of Christianity with so much passion that they congregate with other similarly committed humanitarians to tear the beast down in a public display of defiance?

We have not seen that many people of true faith working together for a common goal since The Exorcist.
