This video features some of the highlights of the Barrie 2024 Remembrance Day ceremonies

Yesterday, our Producer, John Ironside, joined his fellow former service members to honour those who gave their lives in the defence of our nation and citizens, both overseas and closer to home.

The numbers were smaller this year, regarding both veterans and those who came to honour them, which some could argue is a good thing, as less conflict produces less veterans. Peace is, after all, the greatest reward for their service.

It is also not hard to show that the values and views of today’s youth are, for the most part, different than those of past generations, including the value of military service. That said, there were still many young soldiers and cadets present for the ceremony, as well as young children there to lay wreaths and pay their respects.

All the dignitaries and politicians were present, or they were represented by staff from their office(s), but our focus was, and always will be, on those who sacrificed their lives, their mobility, their mental health, and their youth for their nation, and all of us who have benefited from their sacrifices.
