COVID-19 - Showing Support for Local Business in Barrie, 2020
On April 20, 2020, a group of about twenty local Barrie business owners came together at the Georgian Mall to show their support for Barrie businesses, most of which are run by families.
This was NOT an American styled protest to demand the return to pre-COVID reality but was simply a road rally through which justifiably concerned business owners wanted to show their support for fellow local entrepreneurs in a way that respected the rules of social distancing and abided by the new laws pertaining to isolation. Their goal was to make the point that Barrie businesses, and those in other communities, need more support.
The road trip took the rally all over Barrie, where the participants were met form the roadside with support and appreciation for their efforts. Our Association Producer, Tiffany Scott, had to perform the seven basic forms of yoga to get some of the shots from our moving van, but she did well.
We would like to thank the following sponsors of the Ontario Community Awareness Network. These businesses show they care about our shared community by helping us to provide a locally-focused truly local voice to you and your neighbours. They also enable our crew to be able to continue providing donated services to promote local benevolent community groups and charities based in The City of Barrie, the Town of Innisfil, and the Township of Oro-Medonte.
