Remembrance Day Ceremony, Barrie, 2018
Yesterday it was our honour to take part in the Remembrance Day ceremony in Barrie, which we recorded in full for those who could not make it, or for those who know somebody who was participating. Hundreds of veterans, soldiers, cadets, band members, and others participated, so it is likely you will see a face or two you know.
Please share this video as a way of thanking all those who committed themselves to showing respect to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our safety and liberties. This year marked the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War One, and we thought it was important to focus on not just the ceremony, but also those in the audience who remembered those who had been lost.
None of the veterans of the First World War live today, and only one World War Two veteran was noted to be in attendance. The veterans now are mostly from police actions such as the Korean War, and Peace Keeping missions such as in Bosnia, Somalia, and the Gulf Wars.
We did not retain every second of the ceremony. We trimmed and pruned as content permitted, retaining all of the important moments, but truncating pauses and delays. Our purpose is to capture the story and the feelings behind it.
Our sincerest gratitude to all veterans and armed services personnel past and present who have served our nation and protected our freedoms.
