The Coldest Night of the Year is an annual event during which sponsored participants raise money to help fight homelessness
Although February 25, 2017 was not in reality the 'Coldest Night of the Year', the thermometer did drop quite a few degrees in recognition of the event and snow and wind picked up considerably for the occasion. Our crew were in Orillia recording on behalf of our friends at The Lighthouse Soup Kitchen and Shelter, shooting a crowd of more than 500 participants.
The event drew not only Orillia Mayor, Steve Clarke, but also several City Councillors and local well-known citizens
Our role was to record the event and cut from it a short video featuring the high-points of the 'Coldest Night of the Year' 2017 event. We ended up with so much great footage that we could not use for that video that we will also be cutting a promotional video for the 2018 event. Our crew shot much of the preamble inside and then ventured into the cold to join various groups, running forward and sliding back to cover the range of participants.
Men, women, children, and even furries were in attendance, as most people know homelessness can affect anybody
