Coldest Night of the Year, Youth Haven 2018 Barrie Event
On Saturday, February 24, 2018 our crew was out on the streets of Barrie recording the Coldest Night of the Year Barrie in support of Youth Haven Canada. The event drew a reported 222 walkers, 33 teams, 507 donors, and has raised so far $37,851.00. The goal was $100,000.00 and donations can still be made.
Youth Haven provides an invaluable service to youth and young adults who for whatever reason now find themselves living on the streets. Often the reason is physical, verbal, or sexual abuse, but issues also include mental health and addictions within the family.
Thousands of young people have been helped by Youth Haven since it opened its doors 30 years ago. Many of those one-time young people are now your neighbours, your colleagues, and your friends.
Thank you to Mayor Jeff Lehman, Councillor Andrew Prince, Ann Hoggarth, John Brassard - MP for Barrie-Innisfil, Barrie Police Service Chief Kimberley Greenwood, Kevin Mast of Hope City Church, Barrie, Heather Morgan and others for taking the time to speak with us.
