Angus Legion - A Charitable Donation for a Worthy Cause, 2021
On this day, November 11th, we are reminded of the lives lost and the injuries incurred by the brave men and women who defended our country or supported the troops in combat. Our story is about how their commitment to their community carries through during times of peace.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 499, Angus, known as the Edward Macdonald Branch, continue to support their community through a variety of fundraising and charitable acts. Our story is about how they channeled funds earned through “Catch the Ace” lotteries to fund equipment needed by the volunteer-driven Essa Fire Department.
Although they were restricted from donating cash, members of the Legion donated $5000.00 worth of much-needed Milwaukee power tools of various kinds, including portable emergency lights. Many of those tools have already been used to save lives.
We would like to thank the following sponsors of the Ontario Community Awareness Network. These businesses show they care about our shared community by helping us to provide a not-for-profit truly local voice to you and your neighbours. They also enable our crew to be able to continue providing donated services to promote local benevolent community groups and charities based in The City of Barrie, the Town of Innisfil, and the Township of Oro-Medonte.
