Barrie Mayor Alexander Nuttall's Personal War On The Homeless And Unsheltered - In Progress

On October 24, 2022, Alexander Nuttall was voted into office as the 47th Mayor of the City of Barrie. Alex Nuttall, a former federal MP who when he ran for Provincial candidacy was accused of various kinds of candidacy fraud and asked by his own election committee to step down, started displaying a strong disdain for those who are forced by a variety of factors to survive as members of the homeless and unsheltered community. On June 21, 2023, Nuttall's one man war on our poorest sector was scuttled after a rookie Councillor tabled a motion, without due advanced warning and in contradiction to many established protocols, that would have made it illegal for any organization or individual to provide any means of support to any member of the homeless and unsheltered community. The consequences for showing compassion would have been the rath of bylaw officers who would issue the concerned person with a fine. Our video can be found here.

That order extended to money, food and water, clothing, blankets and tents, Tim's cards, and every other form of physical and financial assistance that could possibly be used to ensure the survival of the homeless population.

That underhanded attempt to abuse the authority of Council was blocked by a protest held by hundreds of concerned citizens, who after demonstrating outside of City Hall while the Council was in session, then took the protest inside to the auditorium seating around the Council Chamber while the elected Councillors sat nervously in session. Several Councillors showed signs of stress and concern for their safety, and the Council meeting was prematurely called to conclusion, and the motion for the new laws was stayed. That action, undertaken by a loose coalition of advocates for the homeless and unsheltered community, was not seen so much as a victory, but more of a strategic delay, because it was transparently obvious that Alex Nuttall had an agenda that he was determined to ram through regardless of the wishes of Barrie taxpayers and residents.

In September, 2024, Alex Nuttall ordered Barrie Bylaw and officers of the Barrie Police Service to illegally evict an encampment of homeless citizens who were living in Berczy Park, which is located near Alex Nuttall's then residence. Due to his then close proximity, the action reeked of personal interests. We also learned that the lead complainant about the encampment was motivated by a desire to sell her home, which she had purchased for about a million dollars when the encampment was located in Berczy Park, but was flipping the property for three times that amount immediately after the park had been removed at the expense of taxpayers. We also recorded City of Barrie contractors recieving bribes from local residents for illegally removing the encampment, which was in violation of Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which guarantees for all the "right to life, liberty, and security of the person" and the January 27, 2023 ruling of Justice Michael J Valente, Superior Court of Justice - Court File No.: CV-22-717 available at https://fivepointsmedia.ca/pdf/2023onsc670%20-%20Waterloo.pdf

Then the sinister nature of the action was revealed.

The very next day, officers of the Barrie Police Service arrested our Producer, an internationally experienced journalist, for 'trespassing' in a public park because he wanted to continue reporting the truth of the abuses. That charge is pending trial, to which Alex Nuttall will be summonsed to explain his motivation to clear that specific park, located near his home, and also the nature of his relationship with the woman who wanted the encampment removed so she could profit greatly from the sale of her home.
