Fresh Food Weekly - A Small Charity with a Huge Heart, 2022
A lot of people talk about the plight of the poor, and how they wish they could do more to help. Leah Dyck did more than talk the talk, she walked the walk, and became a hero to many impoverished people within our community. Every month, this young woman and mother collects thousands of dollars in small donations through social media, and she works with local farmers and stores to receive donations of food, either for free or at reduced prices. Then, she and a handful of volunteers put together boxes of food and various other essentials of life which they deliver to hundreds of underfunded households in Barrie, many of which are single mothers.
We would like to thank the following sponsors of the Ontario Community Awareness Network. These businesses show they care about our shared community by helping us to provide a not-for-profit truly local voice to you and your neighbours. They also enable our crew to be able to continue providing donated services to promote local benevolent community groups and charities based in The City of Barrie, the Town of Innisfil, and the Township of Oro-Medonte.
